In Stillness and Silence

In Stillness and Silence

“In stillness and in silence, time is removed to another place, across the stream, through the woods, beyond the horizon.” Thomas A Clark

This exhibition of paintings followed my London exhibition in 2003. I lived overseas for many years and returned to live in Bondi.

These paintings are my response to a particular landscape or a remembered experience or place. The landscapes aren’t literal but attempt to capture a moment in time and the memories that linger long afterwards. The past few years of my life have been tinged with grief and sadness and I have spent a lot of time reflecting. My paintings have provided a vehicle enabling me to journey on a pathway of discovery through the layers of memory, giving the past meaning and hinting at the promise of a brighter future. Each individual work depicts not just a scene or place but a rich tapestry of colour and texture that ends up having a life of its own.
